Located at Syon park, London, Decorex International is a leading interior design event that provides the opportunity for designers to showcase their latest collections, initiate new partnerships, and find all sorts of inspiration. The exhibits include fabrics, wallcoverings, lighting and furniture, and seminars and talks are held throughout the four-day event. The theme for 2018 was ‘Blank Space’, and so the show floor was designed as a blank canvas that allowed interior designers’ to stand out and flourish. Last week, a few members of the Calico Interiors team attended Decorex 2018, where they met many established brands and designers, and gained an insight into the latest interior trends for this year.
On Monday, the team were attracted to Villa Nova’s Picturebook, a collection of fabrics, wall coverings and accessories designed by renowned illustrators, including Fran Preston-Gannon, Christopher Corr and Yuval Zommer. Each artist has created a range of prints, with Preston-Gannon’s designs focusing on the Amazon rainforest, Corr’s is inspired by the cities of India, New York and the Mediterranean, and Zummer’s focuses on the world of bugs and insects. This collection is full of fun and enchantment, as it was inspired by whimsical children’s books.
The following day, the team headed over to the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour for Focus 2018, where designers, stylists, architects and more present their collections and products to the public. The theme this year was colour, with over 100 immersive events that celebrate colourful displays and interiors.
Cole and Son’s latest collection, Botanical Botanica was on display here. These captivating designs capture the transforming landscape throughout the year, including gardens, woodlands and meadows. There are a range of colours in this collection to reflect each season; pastels for spring, vibrant hues for summer, dark tones for autumn and cool and crisp colours for winter. There are many floral wallpapers, such as ‘Lilac’, a beautiful spring flower that will help bring nature into any country or contemporary home.
Another exhibit that our team loved was Style Library, where collections from brands such as Sanderson, Zoffany and Morris & Co. were on show. The exhibit consisted of design boards and artistic displays, providing plenty of inspiration for attendees.
As well as this, collections from Designers Guild and Osborne & Little were on display. Designer’s Guild featured their green and blue hues, including the ‘Quill Velvet Cobalt’ from their Tulipa Stellata collection, which we used for one of our clients’ home earlier this year. Osborne & Little showcased Matthew Williamson and Nina Campbell’s latest collections: Deya and Les Indiennes.
There was so much to see across these exhibitions, and our team left feeling inspired and excited for the new season. Have a look at the slideshow below to see more of the collections and displays.
